When it comes to the towing industry, there is always plenty of scope for offering a specialist service, just like Melbourne’s Planet Towing.
The company purchased an Isuzu FSD 700 Long in early 2009, and have since enjoyed great success with it operating as a low loader, towing plenty of big dollar motor cars, usually on behalf of insurance companies.
Using Hendricksen airbag suspension, the deck on the FSD can be dropped almost to ground level, making it easy to load and unload ultra low sports, prestige and specialist cars.
"We wanted something with a lower approach angle so that we could load cars that didn’t have much ground clearance, like special high performance vehicles that are low to the ground," says Planet Towing owner Vince Brullo.
The airbag suspension features height sensors which detect the truck’s angle and compensate to keep the cargo bed level, but the main asset for Planet Towing is that air can be dumped from the system so the bed can be dropped low.
