Truck show COVID cancellation inspires industry celebration
The Rotary Club of Castlemaine, organisers of the annual Castlemaine Truck Show, which was due to be held on November 28 and 29, has launched a series of online activities in its place, including a photographic competition in a tribute to the people who are keeping the wheels turning in 2020.
According to the Rotary Club of Castlemaine, it is committed to continue celebrating the trucking industry and fundraising for important community projects.
“On November 28-29 we will be offering an exciting online program of speakers and activities including the announcement of winners in a photographic competition to feature in our calendar,” the club says.
For those wishing to enter, it’s a simple case of sending in a photo and short story of a person at work with a truck in 2020.
“Whether you are behind the wheel, under the bonnet, washing it down, or loading it up, you and your truck can be in the running for some fantastic prizes, including a portable fridge sponsored by UsedTrucks,” Castlemaine Rotary says.
“If selected, you could also be a star in our 2021 calendar, sponsored by Kenworth DAF Melbourne, as we tell the story of the trucking industry in Australia during an extraordinary year.”
Castlemaine Rotary emphasises that the photo must be “authentic”, be taken in 2020 and, for quality purposes, must be between 2-4 mB in size, featuring a person at work in Australia with a truck.
Both professional and amateur photographers are welcome to enter.
“Our judging panel will be looking for a wide range of engaging photographs and short stories (50 words) that celebrate the contribution of the trucking industry,” the club says.
There’s a $35 entry fee, which includes postage of a 2021 Calendar featuring the top judged photographs.
Entries close on October 31 with announcements to be made on the weekend of November 28 to 29.
