Trailer builder’s financial aid to Lions Clubs to help fund truck drivers
More has emerged on Vawdrey Australia’s effort to aid those hit by drought in eastern Australia.
The trailer builder donated $10,000 to the Lions Clubs International’s Need for Feed Disaster Relief, supporting drought-affected communities and farmers.
Need for Feed chairman Graham Cockerell accepted the oversized cheque as truckloads of hay rolled off the Spirit of Tasmania in Port Melbourne on August 13.

Vawdrey Australia national sales director Paul Vawdrey says he wanted to bolster financial assistance to the drought relief fund by offsetting costs associated with fuel because “we are all in this together”.
“Australia’s economy and lifestyle depends greatly on the health of our agricultural community as well as our manufacturing,” Vawdrey adds.
“While donors are supplying hay and supplies for the farmers, there didn’t seem to be much in the way of support for the drivers involved with the distribution, which is why I wanted to contribute funds to help pay for fuel.”
Vawdrey says he will continue to work closely with the road transport industry to support the Need for Feed drought relief efforts.
