Police charge man with 15 offences after crash near Rutherglen
Victoria Police reports it has charged a 31-year-old truck driver after a double fatality in Brimin, near near Rutherglen, on November 2.
It is understood the eastbound truck he was driving on the Murray Valley Highway collided with a westbound car just after 9.30pm.
A 37-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy from the car died at the scene, while an adult and two children, all males and occupants of the car, were airlifted to hospital with critical injuries.
In an incident that garnered widespread media coverage, the victims were all from the Kilmister family from nearby Bundalong.

The driver, from Mooroopna, was interviewed and charged by Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives with 15 offences, including:
- Two counts of culpable driving
- Two counts of dangerous driving causing death
- Two counts of negligently causing serious injury
- Two counts of dangerous driving causing serious injury
- Two counts of reckless conduct endangering life and serious injury
- Exceeding the prescribed concentration of drugs while driving
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Wangaratta Magistrates’ Court on March 14, 2019.
