The former Pumpa Engineering seeks more growth in trailing equipment market
Northern Victorian equipment-maker firm Pumpa Engineering in under new ownership and management and has morphed into trailer-focused Pumpa Manufacturing.
According to the new team, former owner Tony Pumpa divested the business on retirement in mid-December.
Now, Michael Bulluss, Jamie Regan and Jason King say they will continue with current staff with a view to growing the business.
They are seasoned truck and trailer manufacturing veterans, with Bulluss having spent a decade as engineering manager at Krueger and another 20 years as Barker Trailers managing director.
Regan has had 18 years as Barker’s operations manager, while King has held sales and management positions with Paccar for more than a decade.
“The engineering business has been based on the current site for over 25 years,” King says.
“It is an excellent facility set up for the manufacture of semi-trailers, with plenty of room for expansion.
“The current facility has capabilities of producing 300-400 trailers per annum.”
The business will still be located in Swan Hill and will continue to manufacture the Pumpa and Lusty Australia brands for:
- tippers, semis, B-doubles, road trains, and Performance-Based Standards (PBS) truck and dogs, in both steel and aluminium.
- other bulk equipment
- general purpose semi trailers: curtainsiders, flat tops, drop decks, extendables, deck wideners, full axle wideners, skeletals, dollies
- agricultural equipment: mother bins, chaser bins and rippers
- all special builds and special purpose vehicles, race car transporters.
Pumpa Manufacturing will also offer services including PBS application and certification in house, servicing and spare parts, along with minor and major repairs
The company says its location in close proximity to the Mallee, Wimmera and the Riverina regions, means the business is ideally positioned to service these areas, as well as Melbourne and the surrounding states.
A large focus will be on the grain industry, but the manufacturing business is also looking to diversify into other growth areas in transport.
