Reserve price reached easily for Kenworth Legend 950 in GraysOnline auction
As one of only 75 ever produced, the 2015 Kenworth Legend 950 is a rarity – with its sale at action easily reaching its reserve price of $350,000 last month.
GraysOnline industrial marketing coordinator Jessica Gore tells Owner//Driver the site had seen a large amount of interest in the vehicle, with the webpage receiving 2,475 unique visitors to the website, and about 3,315 page visits for the auction.
“There was a lot of traffic coming through … and that was just for the lot itself, so we had more going through to the sale as well,” Gore says.
But then, that’s no surprise – after its initial launch the Kenworth Legend 950 was sold out within 48 hours – with buyers praising it as an updated version of the much loved prime mover first sold in 1992, but with a modern technological and safety edge.
Designed and built at Kenworth’s Bayswater facility in Melbourne, the Legend 950 has an 18-speed Eaton manual transmission and an ISXe5 615 horsepower Cummins engine, as well as a retro-styled parchment interior with wood grain dash and gear knob, and Legend 950 badging throughout the cab
Modifications made by the truck’s owner, which included new Kenworth-approved shock absorbers and modified front springs, as well as air-ride suspension at the back of the cab, three fridges, a microwave, a 60-inch bunk and reverse-cycle air conditioning also added to its appeal.
