ACFS Port Logistics expands NZ presence with new acquisition

The acquisition sees ACFS widen its presence in New Zealand through Auckland freight solutions and a Christchurch distribution centre

ACFS Port Logistics has expanded its operations in New Zealand with the announcement of its acquisition of Coda Group.

The acquisition means ACFS will receive the brand’s divisions of Auckland 3PL transport, Auckland Freight Solution and the Christchurch Rolleston distribution centre.

Expected to be completed on May 1, the business will be rebranded as ACFS Port Logistics. The acquisition doesn’t impact Coda Group’s 4PL operations, its Bay of Plenty or its Savill Drive locations, which will continue to run as part of the group’s wider New Zealand strategy.

Coda Group was founded in 2015 and has since established itself as a key logistics provider in NZ, offering integrated logistics solutions across imports, exports, warehousing, freight hubs and freight management.
Coda recently expanded through the incorporation of several legacy freight and transport brands.

On the ACFS side, it first entered the NZ market through a 25,000sqm warehouse in Otahuhu, Auckland in late 2023.

The Coda business assets acquired in this transaction will immediately make ACFS a major volume provider of containerised logistic services, offering a multi modal (transport and rail) approach with the strategically located FCL storage facilities located at Metro Port in Auckland and Rolleston in Christchurch.

“By transitioning to ACFS, we’re ensuring that our Auckland 3PL transport, Auckland Freight Station (FAK) and Rolleston DC have the scale, resources and growth opportunities required to excel in an increasingly competitive freight sector.”

ACFS Port Logistics CEO and managing director Arthur Tzaneros says he’s excited to welcome Coda Group’s team into the ACFS business.

“Coda’s capabilities, service offering and reputation align closely with our existing operations in Australia,” Tzaneros says.

“Together, we will strengthen our value proposition for customers throughout New Zealand, and aggressively expand our footprint as a major player in the containerised logistics market.”

ACFS Port Logistics chairman Terry Tzaneros says: “The expertise and assets gained through this acquisition will help us realise and enhance the vision we set during COVID — to provide our New Zealand clients with the same high-quality service they experience in Australia.

“I am extremely excited about this acquisition and look forward to welcoming the Coda employees into the ACFS Port Logistics family as we continue to grow.”
