The average price of diesel at the terminal gate fell 2.5 cents a litre (c/l) or 2.15 percent in the week ended February 1, according to data collected by the Australian Institute of Petroleum (AIP).
The AIP data, based on information provided by BP Australia, Caltex, Shell Australia and ExxonMobil, shows the average terminal gate price nationally dropped from 115.98 c/l in the week ended January 25 to 113.48 c/l in the week ended February 1.
In the same period, the average terminal gate price for unleaded petrol nationally rose slightly to 113.36 c/l, up from to 102 c/l in the previous week.
