Stage set for the transport industrys premier event

Recently awarded the world’s best convention centre, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is set to welcome more than 35,000 people to the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show for a jam-packed four-day event displaying all the latest trucks, trailers and transport equipment

Organiser Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) is readying to welcome visitors from around Australia and across the globe to the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show.

HVIA chief executive Brett Wright says the 50-year milestone of the show, set to be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) from Thursday, May 25 to Sunday, May 28, 2017, is a great reflection on the innovation and resilience of the Australian heavy-vehicle industry.

“The show has come a long way from its humble beginnings when 21 truck, trailer and component manufacturers and suppliers came together at Haulmark Trailers’ premises in Rocklea in 1968,” he says.

“The 2017 Brisbane Truck Show is the fourth that will be held at BCEC, and features close to 300 exhibitors displaying the latest trucks, trailers, components, equipment, accessories and technology.”

Wright invites visitors to explore and enjoy new features and improvements for the 50-year anniversary show.

“Our focus is always on making the event a great experience for visitors and exhibitors,” he says.

“The improvements we’ve made for the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show range from online ticketing to the exhibition layout.

“As part of the celebration, we’ve developed the Heavy Vehicle Industry Innovation Centre on the Plaza level.

“Displays showcase industry design and manufacturing innovations, research and development success stories, and connect businesses with support programs and services.”

The all-new Brisbane Truck Show Awards celebrate Australia’s dynamic heavy-vehicle industry by showcasing the last two year’s best design, engineering and manufacturing achievements, influenced by a culture of innovation and safety.

Judged by a cohort of the country’s leading transport and equipment journalists, the new Brisbane Truck Show Awards highlight the industry’s latest advances.

“These awards will really showcase the industry’s capabilities,” Wright says.

“Amongst the contenders there are many already well-known, if not iconic, brands. Then there are many others who have quietly been creating ground-breaking products, technology and services that are changing the way the transport industry does business.”

The prestigious 2017 Brisbane Truck Show Awards will be presented with the support of Platinum Partner BP Australia at a special cocktail event at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on the first evening of the show – Thursday, May 25.

HVIA’s Industry Career Centre, located on the Plaza level, is a one-stop shop for students and job seekers to talk to the experts about the apprentice system, government assistance, training delivery and training content.

The popular Apprentice Challenge is now a truly national event, with competitors representing each of the HVIA regions including the eastern region of Queensland, New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory; the southern region of Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania; and north-western region of Western Australia and Northern Territory.

The regional teams work simultaneously on identical trucks, generously supplied by Fuso Australia, to identify and rectify a series of programmed faults as the clock ticks.

Wright also paid tribute to HVIA’s show partners, particularly BP Australia, Castrol and Bauer Trader Media.

“We’re privileged to be joined by organisations like these to continue to build and grow a world-class event for our visitors,” he says.

“We hope you enjoy our 50-year anniversary Brisbane Truck Show, Australia’s premier event, run by industry for industry.”
