Bruce Highway facing long term closures

Bruce Highway

A section of Queensland’s Bruce Highway may be closed for weeks after a serious traffic incident on Friday morning.

A truck and ute collided at Bororen, south of Gladstone, leaving the section of the Bruce between Gin Gin and Calliope closed with no current timeline on when it will reopen.

According to the Gladstone Council, the diversions could be in place for weeks, as a large culvert on the impacted area of the highway due to an ammonia nitrate explosion potentially creating major difficulties for repair crews.

The current diversion is adding an estimated four hours to journeys through the area, so plan ahead accordingly.
