Bruce Highway reopens with reduced speed limits and closed lanes

Bruce Highway

The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads has notified drivers that the Bruce Highway has reopened under strict conditions after a devastating traffic incident last week.

Access has been restored between Gin Gin and Calliope in the Gladstone region with strict closures.

Drivers will be able to access two lanes with speeds limited to 60kmh. Road users will not be permitted to stop at all throughout the ongoing roadworks zone.

General freight and PBS heavy vehicles can operate through this section of the Bruce at pre-existing mass limits. Class 1 oversize overmass heavy vehicle operators are not permitted on this section of road.

Motorists are reminded to observe all warning signs, speed restrictions and traffic control directions in place. Detour signage will be progressively removed after the opening of the Bruce Highway.

Permanent works are expected to be completed by early October 2024.
