The Clunes Historic Vehicle Show is only days away, and the 11th edition of the show is set to dazzle with some of the finest heritage rigs Ballarat and surrounds have to offer.
Set to be one of the most exciting shows yet, it has run continuously for 13 years except for 2020 and 2021, which were forced to be cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.
But back in full strength after successful editions for the past two years, it’ll be a static display held at the Clunes Showgrounds on Ballarat-Maryborough Road on Sunday, March 10 from 9am to 4pm.
Organiser Murray Pope says fans of old school trucks, cars, tractors and more can’t miss it.
“It’s a display of historic vehicles and old vehicles that are more than 25 years old. I’ve got three myself that I’ll be showing, including a 1951 model and one’s a 1961 model,” he says.
“There’ll be a lot of vehicles that are getting a bit of age on them. There’ll be magnificent restorations of cars and trucks, some old tractors that have been restored with old engines. Anything you can drive that’s more than 30 years old.
“I’d say there’d be about 170 or 180 old trucks and quite a number of old cars.”
Other events on the day will include food stalls to enjoy between your time spent in awe at the heritage vehicles on display, as well as a jumping castle to keep the kids busy.
Pope says he gets no greater joy from the show than watching the crowd roll through.
“I love to see the expression on the crowd’s faces when they walk around to look at the old trucks.
“There’s a lot of old drivers that turn up and go, ‘I used to own that truck’. It’s wonderful to see the enjoyment they get out of it.”
