Hino’s history of innovation will be the central theme of the company’s display at the Melbourne Truck Show this week.

Steve Lotter, president of Hino Australia, says the display will be based on a town square, and feature trucks including the first diesel-electric hybrid offered for sale in Australia, a Hino Hybrid 300 Series 714, as well as the Japanese domestic model FC hybrid.

Also featured in the display is the new 300 Series 614 Auto dump truck, which will be officially launched at the show, and includes a driver’s SRS airbag, and ABS brakes with electronic brake force distribution as standard equipment, which will be targeted at landscapers, pool builders, rental companies, builders, plumbers and tradespersons.

“We believe our theme reflects the success Hino has enjoyed in bringing our range of light, medium and heavy-duty trucks to market over many years,” Lotter says.

“There is no better example of Hino’s technological innovation than the diesel-electric hybrid truck.

“Hino was the first manufacturer to introduce a hybrid truck to the Australian market, and we have seen great acceptance and interest in hybrid technology, our customer list continues to grow and includes an increasing number of companies such as TNT Express, Nestlé, Australia Post, Smith’s Snackfoods, Toll Logistics and many local councils around the country.”
