This month's Perth Truck and Trailer Show will have exhibits from all major manufacturers, plus the Cars 2 'Mack The Transporter' truck

July 19, 2011

This year is a big
one for the Western Australian trucking industry, with the largest display of new trucks and trailers scheduled to appear at the Perth Truck and Trailer Show.

Held biennially, the 2011 Perth Truck and Trailer Show takes up all six pavilions of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre with displays of new trucks and trailers, equipment and accessories. The Show runs from Friday, July 29 to Sunday July 31.

Show Director Peter Woods said event organisers were thrilled that all exhibition space was sold and that all major brands would be on display.

Visitors to the 2011 Perth Truck and Trailer Show are sure to be impressed with the exhibitions, which will include some of the most exciting new trucks on the market, including the Scania R730.

Following on from its success in being judged the 2010 International Truck of the Year, Scania’s R730 was been named 2011 Truck of the Show at this year’s Brisbane Truck Show. The Scania R730 has a unique combination of performance, transport efficiency, fuel economy, durability and driver appeal. With 3500Nm and 730hp, Scania’s new flagship V8 has the highest torque and power ratings of any truck engine.

Another of the most anticipated exhibitions will be the brand new Cat trucks, which are being launched across Australia. After more than 80 years as a leading equipment supplier, Caterpillar has branched into the truck market with its brand new series of long-haul trucks. These new on-highway trucks, the CT630 and CT610, will be on display at the 2011 Perth Truck and Trailer Show. The trucks, which were developed as part of a joint venture between Navistar and Caterpillar, are assembled in Australia.

Many major brands of trucks will be on show including Mack, UD and Volvo (particularly the new 700HP FH model), Hino, Iveco (including the Eurocargo 4×4, Trakker, Stralis and PowerStar), Fuso, Mercedes Benz and Freightliner, who will showcase the new release Coronado. Kenworth will be on show with the release of the new Kenworth K200 model.

Also worth checking out is the Western Star 4964FXC with the new Detroit DD15 engine rated up to 164 tonne GCM; and the MAN 6×4 prime mover. Two brands new to the Australian market will be showcased – the Foton 4,495kg GVM with the new release Cummins 2.8 ISF diesel engine; and the Dennis Eagle 6×4 low entry cab with dual control steering complete with refuse compactor body.

For those in the market for trailers, there is the Faymonville 48 metre extendable full steering trailer, which will be displayed for the first time ever in Australia. There will be a range of CMIC skeletal trailers, specifically designed for rigorous wharf work throughout Australia; and the drop deck curtainsider, which offers benefits for all modes of operation, including multi pickup and multi drop situations.

Extendable trailers designed for oversized loads; versatile drop deck semi trailers with convenient ramps, light weight trailers and low loaders will all be on display.

There will also be plenty of displays for those in the market for engines, parts, accessories, products and services.

Hella Australia is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011 and will be showcasing their range of high quality automotive and commercial vehicle lighting products, the Mann Filter range of premium quality automotive filtration products, and Behr Hella Service, featuring Australia’s widest range of thermal management products for European vehicles in Australia.

CAPRICORN SOCIETY WORLDSKILLS COMPETITION

The Commercial Vehicle Industry Association has always extended its support to the promotion of apprenticeships, and will continue to do so via this year’s Capricorn Society WorldSkills Competition.

The 2011 WorldSkills Competition will take place at the Perth Truck and Trailer Show and gives WA apprentices the opportunity to compete for their chance to be awarded WA’s Best Heavy or Light Vehicle Apprentice.

Medallist apprentices will have the opportunity to compete in the national competition, with the chance to represent Australia in the International competition in London.

EVENING EVENTS

As part of the Perth Truck and Trailer Show, organisers have two major events scheduled for those involved in the WA truck industry, with the Friday night industry cocktail party, and the Gala Dinner on the Saturday night.

Friday night drinks have never been more fun, with the Scania Cocktail Party being held after the first show day on July 29. A light and casual networking opportunity, attendees can join their colleagues for drinks and nibbles, and be entertained by one of Australia’s funniest personalities. Sam Kekovich will be the special guest at the event, bringing guaranteed laughs and edge-of-your-seat stories from his long career in sport and the media.

Following the cocktail party, the ever-popular Gala Dinner Night of the Stars will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on July 30.

FAMILY FUN

This year’s show is one to bring the family to, with the added attraction of the Disney Pixar ‘Mack the Transporter’ Display.

To celebrate the launch of the new Disney Pixar movie Cars 2, a replica of the Mack truck from the film will be on display at the Perth Truck and Trailer Show. As well as being an eye-catching drawcard for any young Cars fan, the display also houses a huge range of activities for kids.

The Perth Truck and Trailer Show is held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, 21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth.
