Newly-formed south east Queensland truck advocacy and support group, Transport People United (TPU) is staging the Big Banger Truck Show and Trade Expo at the Rosewood Showgrounds west of Ipswich on Father’s Day, Sunday, September 2.

TPU Secretary Kay Paul says the Big Banger Truck Show is the group’s first big event and they are hoping it will go off with a real bang.

The Big Banger Truck Show will round out this year’s three-day Rosewood Festival program and will run from 9am to 6pm. As well as the truck show, the big day will feature a farmer’s market, trade stalls, kids’ rides, plenty of food and drink outlets including a licensed bar, and live country music.

"There will be something for everyone," Kay says. "Trucks entering the show will also be competing in seven categories with trophies to be awarded for Open and Best Truck on the Day, Best Golden Oldie (1900-1980), Most Feral Truck, Best Art and Mural and the always popular People’s Choice as well as a series of minor fun awards."

Monies raised from the $50 truck competition entry fee and other entry donations will go to the Rosewood community and towards the Transport People United’s primary aim of improving Australian truckies’ workplace, the highway.
