Larsen’s champions Alexandra Truck Show

Long-time Alexandra Truck, Ute and Rod Show supporter Dave Larsen raised his sponsorship on the day of this year's annual June event.

The Alexandra Truck, Ute and Rod Show, held on June 10 this year, received a welcome boost when major sponsor Larsen’s Truck Sales increased their sponsorship of the event by a further 50 percent.

Amid a chilly mid-morning on show day, Dave Larsen, managing director of Larsen’s Truck Sales, handed over a cheque for $15,000 to show committeeman Andrew Embling.

Andrew, one of the Alexandra Truck, Ute and Rod Show’s co-founders along with Gordon Simpson, was highly appreciative of the sponsorship, but also thanked Dave for his long-term friendship.

“Dave has been with us over many years, but only over the last three years as Larsen’s,” Andrew says.

“Before that he was with another company, but he came back and stuck with us.

“He was with us for the third year of our truck show and has done a lot for us.

“You wouldn’t get a better bloke in the industry, and I’m not saying that because I’ve got a cheque in my hand.”

As well as the sponsorship, Larsen’s Truck Sales had nine trucks on show in Alexandra’s main street, the venue for the annual show. These included a 1984 Kenworth SAR and a Peterbilt which Dave imported from California.

He says the show is more about exposure, rather than the hard sell.

“You don’t do it to sell trucks, you do it for branding, to get your name out,” Dave explains.

“This is about people, this show, and Andrew Embling is one of those guys, good hard-working people you don’t get in some other places.”
