The Federal Government’s edict limiting outdoor crowd numbers to under 500, and under 100 for indoor gatherings, has forced the cancellation of truck shows and transport industry events across the nation.

Casualties in March included the Kyabram Mack Muster in Victoria, Penrith Working Truck Show and Oaklands Truck Show, NSW. The biennial Crawlin’ The Hume, which was to travel from Melbourne to Albury, has been postponed to a date yet to be determined.

The Trucking Australia conference, which was due to be held in Cairns on April 1 to 3, has also been cancelled. Other April events to be affected by the coronavirus-led curfews are Climbing the New England Vintage Truck and Machinery Show in Glen Innes, NSW, and the TracMach Lights on the Hill Truck and Tractor Show in Brunswick Junction, WA.

Also in April, the Vintage Trucks and Trade Show Festival, which was to be held at St Anne’s Winery in Myrniong, Victoria will now not run. Neither will the Shoalhaven Truckers Kidney Foundation Truck Show, which was scheduled to be held at Nowra, NSW on April 19.

May events affected include Comvec 2020 and the Sydney Classic and Antique Truck Show. The Heritage Truck Association Truck Show, which was to be held on May 16 to 17 at Rocklea Showgrounds in Brisbane, is now off the 2020 calendar.

Organisers of the Putty Road Truck Driver's Memorial, which was to be held at Milbrodale, NSW, on May 8, have also been forced to pull the pin on the 2020 event.

In addition, Victoria's Alexandra Truck, Ute & Rod Show, due to be held on June 7, has been postponed to a later date.

"As soon as it's safe to run events again we will be straight in, and hope that might be late spring," says Alexandra co-organiser Andrew Embling.

Owner//Driver will endeavour to keep readers up to date with other cancellations or postponements in the coming weeks and months.
