‘Father of Volvo’ responds to Truck Centre WA acquisition

Truck Centre WA’s leader has teased a passing of the baton in the wake of Volvo Group’s acquisition of the business

The ‘father of Volvo’ in Australia, Max Winkless, as issued a company announcement after it was revealed last week Truck Centre WA has been acquired by Volvo Group Australia.

From July 1 this year, Volvo Group Australia will officially bring Truck Centre WA into its fold, with Max saying the acquisition marks “the beginning of a new chapter” for Truck Centre WA.

He also revealed the departure of a much loved member of the Truck Centre WA team.

“With this timing in mind (and with a heavy heart) I would also like to announce there will be changes within our leadership team, with the retirement of Brad Daff after 37 years of service,” Max says.

“Brad’s leadership has provided Truck Centre WA with tremendous growth, while navigating tough economic conditions and a pandemic. He’s built a legacy within Truck Centre WA and we would like to thank him for his dedication throughout his tenure. Brad will head off into a well-earnt retirement from July 1, 2025.”

Max says that the acquisition may mark a change in ownership for Truck Centre WA, but its operations won’t change. He confirmed that the centre would continue to “operate as usual”.

“Together, we’ll be able to offer better solutions to customers. This recognises the incredible work our team, suppliers and customers have contributed to build Truck Centre WA to what it is today,” he says.

“People have been at the heart of our success as a business, a value shared by Volvo Group Australia. Seeing where we are today, the impact we’ve made, the challenges we’ve overcome together is incredibly humbling.

“Although the time has come for Brad and I to pass on the baton, I know the company will be in great hands with Volvo Group Australia.”
