VIDEO: OwnerDriver travels to Sweden for an early test drive of Volvo’s new battery/electric FH and FM models, soon to appear on Australian roads
OwnerDriver’s technical editor Steve Brooks has made the trip to Sweden to test drive the first production versions of Volvo’s new FH Electric and FM Electric models.
He was among a small group of Australian journalists invited to Volvo Group headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, to sample the battery/electric prime movers, just a day after they were the first of their type to roll off the line at Volvo’s manufacturing plant in Tuve, Sweden.
Australia is high on the list of priority markets for the heavy duty battery/electric models, with trucks destined for Volvo Group Australia (VGA) already under construction.
Ultimately, VGA will build the battery/electric models at its Wacol factory in Brisbane.
With the FH and FM loaded to around 35 and 38 tonnes respectively, test runs on Swedish roads confirmed exceptional performance and road manners.
Indeed, the performance of the electric trucks is destined to surprise and impress many people.
Steve Brooks’ comprehensive report will appear in an upcoming issue of OwnerDriver. Stay tuned!
