First twilight Christmas toy run provides holiday joy

Around 40 trucks left the Mower Supastore Brendale to deliver new toys as part of the first annual twilight Christmas toy run

A convoy of roughly 40 trucks have provided three utes worth of brand-new toys as part of the first ever annual twilight Christmas toy run.

Chris Doosey, the director of Bean Express and the Mower Supastore Brendale, first mentioned the idea of a Christmas toy run to the Bean Express team in 2023. After running out of time last year, Chris, in his role as the president of the Brisbane Convoy for Kids for 12 months, was able to bring the community together in 2024 for the toy run.

Chris’ team typically holds a truck meet every six to eight weeks, with the toy run being the final gathering of 2024.

Departing from the Mower Supastore Brendale at 5pm on December 7, the convoy travelled to the nearby Pelican Park to hand over their new toy donations to support children and families impacted by domestic violence.

After the toys were presented to the Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre to help families in need, families soaked up the festive atmosphere and kids checked out the big rigs up close, with some even getting to hop in and have a look.

The plan is to deliver the toys on December 20, with Chris and his team now looking at a second annual toy run in the latter stages of 2025 to continue building momentum.
