Healthy Heads takes mental health cause on the road

Mental health organisation Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds is continuing its road show initiative, getting on the move again for the third edition in 2024 for its National Tour.

The company says the focus of this year’s show will revolve around connecting with the road transport, warehousing and logistics sector to provide important information on mental and physical health, as well as melanoma prevention and nutrition.

“The road show has connected with more than 3500 people in the transport, warehousing and logistics industries since launching in 2022,” Healthy Heads says.

This year’s road show has visited sites in Melbourne’s western suburbs, including Altona, Spotswood and Truganina.

Healthy Heads says the road show is open to anyone within the transport sector. Attendees will be provided access to industry-specific resources on looking after yourself and your team, tips on mental health and wellbeing, the Healthy Heads app and on-site health screening provided by Worksite Fitness and Rehab.

The organisation’s mission is to create psychologically safe and health working environments and provide people with the necessary tools to support their own mental health and wellbeing and to look out for teammates.

“Risk factors for people working in the transport sector can include long hours, shift work, fatigue, job pressure, social isolation and exposure to potentially traumatic events,” Healthy Heads says.

“Stigma around mental health means that not enough people access the resources and support they need.

“Healthy Heads delivers tailored programs, resources and initiatives designed to target the many people and businesses working in the sector, including raising awareness through events, campaigns, partnerships and projects like this one.”
