Hino has announced the winners of its Australian national skills champions in the parts, service and sales titles.
The competition saw 18 finalists from around the country compete in the final at Hino Australia’s Sydney headquarters following four months of qualifying rounds.
The finals saw Graham Reynolds from Wagga Trucks, Admir Music from Prestige Hino and Sci-Fleet Hino Brisbane’s John Delahay win the parts, service and sales titles respectively.
“One of the longest-running events of its kind in the industry, the National Skills contest demonstrates Hino Australia’s dedication to continually enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of our dealership teams,” Hino Australia president and CEO Richard Emery says.
Sales consultants showcased their knowledge and skills in a 700 Series role play scenario, followed by a tailored TrailerWIN task assessment and concluded the day with a sales mastermind quiz.
For service technicians, there was a series of practical assessments that tested their diagnostic and technical skills on the entire model range.

Parts interpreters demonstrated their capabilities through a customer-focused role play scenario, followed by a live parts assessment. For the first time, they also took part in a mastermind quiz.
“The skills contest provides us with a platform to test and recognise the expertise and dedication of our people while delivering a clear benefit to our customers through increased technical knowledge and skills,” Emery says.
“It is also key in our ability to attract and retain a workforce of skilled and dedicated parts, sales and service professionals throughout the country.
“The hard work and dedication of our team resulted in global recognition earlier in the year when we received our 17th consecutive Parts Department of the Year Award and the 14th successive Service Department of the Year Award.”
Each skills champion receives a cash reward and an expenses-paid trip to Japan. The Hino National Skills final was held on November 13 and attended by guests from Hino Australia, Hino Motors and Hino Distributors (NZ).
In the service sector, Admir Music led Shaun O’Callaghan (WA Hino) and Till Hino’s Matthew Rentenaar, while Graham Reynold claimed the top parts spot ahead of Alysha Taylor from Prestige Hino and CMI Hino Melbourne’s Angelo Peponas.
On the sales side, John Delahay took first place in front of CMI Hino Adelaide’s Stephanie Demarco and Adtrans Hino’s Chris Biancucci.
