A recall notice has been issued by Hino for 5,704 units of their 500 series in the year range 2018-2024.
Due to a manufacturing defect, the chassis wiring harness may come in contact with the engine side cover, engine side cover bracket or cabin arch.
As a result, the wiring could become damaged and cause a short circuit, potentially causing a vehicle fire.
Safety hazards include a vehicle fire which may increase the risk of an accident, cause serious injury or death to people in the vehicle, other road users and bystanders, or even damage property.
Replacement parts will not be available until late August 2024.
When parts are available, HMSA will write to vehicle owners by priority mail inviting them to make an appointment with their nearest Hino Dealer to have the vehicle inspected and rectified, free of charge.
