Specialist Sydney towing business Haul King has chosen two new Hyundai EX9 tilt tray with Allison Transmissions as the option to transport high-value, luxury vehicles around the city.
The operation is using two EX9s with an extra long wheelbase equipped with Allison 1000 SeriesTM xFE transmissions to give prestige vehicles the smoothest ride around.
“The cargo we move is often very rare and has a high market value. Our customers place a considerable amount of trust in us to safely transport their prized vehicles,” Haul King co-owner Ahmed Eloss says.
“It is not uncommon for Haul King to be moving Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The most expensive car we’ve transported was a Pagani Huayra with a street value of nearly $10M AUD when you factor in its customisations.
“Most of the expensive cars are lowered – and some are super-lowered – so we set out to provide the lowest tray possible to ensure the smoothest traveling experience for these finely-tuned machines.”

Eloss says Hyundai helped him obtain what he believes are the lowest tilt trays in the country, which is important to car enthusiasts because their vehicles often have low profile tyres and precious machinery only inches from the ground.
“I used to drive bigger trucks – both manual and automatic. But for vehicles like this, I recommend an automatic – a reliable one that offers a smooth experience and no unexpected movements,” Eloss says.
“Sometimes shifting gears in a manual truck – or even an AMT – can create a jerking movement as the gears change. We don’t want to risk any damage to luxury cars and that’s why we wanted Allisons in our trucks.
“Allison transmissions are also the most straight forward. You’re not messing around waiting for gears to shift. So, in addition to not creating unwanted movement, it also takes off when you want it to take off and you don’t lose time traveling across a busy city.”
Hyundai Commercial Vehicles Australia general manager Daryl Thornton says the EX9 is the ideal choice for the operation.
“Hyundai has two more EX9 Tilt Tray trucks similar to Haul King’s that are equipped with Allisons in country. They’re ready for others looking to move cargo using our generous tilt range that delivers the smoothest of driving experiences,” Thornton says.
The popularity of Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional, electric hybrid and fully electric vehicle propulsion solutions, has continued to grow in the transport and delivery market.
“Allison fully automatic transmissions offer many benefits, including easy operation, smooth shifting and uninterrupted power delivery. These features make doing the job that much easier,” Allison Transmission Australian sales manager Robert Cavagnino says.
“Seasoned drivers know how to get the most out of vehicles and they also appreciate that automatic transmissions can provide tangible returns including reduced downtime so vehicles can spend more time on the road, leading to increased productivity and efficiency, which ultimately impacts a business’s bottom line.”
