Transport mins uncertain as relected Bligh reshuffles

Contenders line up for Main Roads post as re-elected Qld Government prepares for reshuffle

A number of contenders are lining up for the position of minster of Main Roads as the re-elected Queensland Government prepares for a major cabinet reshuffle.

Previous Main Roads minster Warren Pitt did not contest his seat of Mulgrave in the State’s north after announcing his retirement from politics in February.

Amongst the front-runners for the position is Stafford MP Stirling Hinchliffe, who is currently Assistant Minister to Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning Paul Lucas, the Courier Mail reports.

Other newspaper reports suggest current Transport Minister John Mickel could be shuffled out of his portfolio.

Bligh, who won back government by a bigger-than-expected margin over the Liberal-National Party on Saturday, is expected to announce the new-look ministerial team on Thursday.
