LNG plant on the cards for Port of Newcastle

Port of Newcastle may become home to LNG plant, according to a spokesman for the corporation

The Port of Newcastle may become home to a liquid natural gas plant, according to a spokesman for the corporation.

“There’s been very much preliminary discussions about LNG, with some interested parties,” he tells ATN.

Although declining to name any of the companies involved in the initiative, the spokesman says an LNG plant may soon be a reality.

BOC Gases and WesFarmers LNG did not return calls made by ATN.

Multinational oil and gas company Santos has flagged interest in an LNG venture and there are reports Eastern Star Gas may also be willing to become involved.
