Progress on Queensland level crossing upgrades

Eight level crossing upgrades completed in Queensland under federal funding, but there is still significant progress to be made

Eight level crossing upgrades have been completed in Queensland under funding from the Rudd Government, but there is still significant progress to be made after the first three months of work came to an end.

In total 58 level crossings still need to completed in a state which saw 18 collisions, five of which were fatal at rail crossings last year.

So far crossings at Gordonvale, Townsville, Bellenden Ker, Calliope, Emerald, Toomulla and Kinduro have all had flashing lights and boom gates installed.

Federal Minster for Infrastructure Anthony Albanese says progress is faster than expected and commended the Queensland Government for putting the money into use so quickly.
