Victorian level crossing upgrades under way

Victoria level crossing upgrades took a step further to completion, with 16 of 59 upgrades completed

The drive to improve safety at Victoria’s level crossings is a step further to completion, with the announcement from the Federal Government 16 of 59 upgrades have been completed.

The project, which was announced by Minister for Infrastructure Anthony Albanese earlier this year, is at the end of its third month and a further four crossings are expected to be completed by the end of June.

The upgrades included the installation of new boom gates, active advanced warning signs and flashing lights in Eaglehawk, Myers Flat, Camperdown, Boorcan, Westmere, Mininera, Deep Lead, Cardigan, Windermere, Beaufort, Eurambeen, Buangor, Murchison East and Kaniva.

A total of $150 million will be spent on upgrading level crossings throughout Australia.
