‘Big Day Out’ focuses on eco driving and road safety

ADTA holds annual Big Day Out conference at Parramatta, with a focus on eco driving and road safety

The Australian Driver Trainer Association (ADTA) held its annual Big Day Out conference for truck driver trainers today at Parramatta with a strong focus on eco driving and road safety.

The ADTA says the conference is the only venue for truck drivers, fleet managers and other industry members to meet and discuss ways to improve training and safety for heavy vehicles.

ADTA Director David Wringley says the event allows operators to talk about ways to improve their efficiency in NSW.

“Each year, the ADTA asks experts in truck regulation, truck technology and insurance, driver education and road safety to come along and tell us about the latest that is happening in the transport and logistics sector,” Wringley says.

Conference participants include the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA), The Transport and Logistics Skills Council (TLSC), Hino, Volvo Trucks, insurance company Global Transport and Automatic Insurance solutions.

Wringley says events like the Big Day Out are important to the industry, given the rapid growth of trucks and trucking operators throughout the country.

“It is by keeping up to date with new technology, new strategies and new ideas that truck driver trainers and fleet operators can dot heir bit to continue with the reduction in truck crashes and incidents that has (sic) been seen over the past decade or more,” he says.
