Local promotion a first for Hino

Hino's decision to promote its chief operating officer to president is a world-first for the company

Hino’s decision to promote its chief operating officer to the role of president is a world-first for the heavy vehicle distributor.

Steve Lotter will retain his current title but also move into the new role.

The promotion is the first time a local executive has been made president of any of Hino’s global affiliate companies.

Lotter has held the post of chief operating officer of Hino’s Australia division for three years.

Hino’s world president, Yoshio Shirai, announced the change, alongside the appointment of a new chairman and chief executive to lead the company’s Australian operations.

Kenichi Sekine was formerly the president of Hino Diesel Trucks in Canada and has also worked for the company in the United States and the Middle East.

Current Hino chairman John Conomos decided to retire after completing a three year contract with the company.

President and Chief Executive Junsuke Ando has returned to a senior position in Japan after five years in Australia.
