Diesel cheaper still, for fifth week running

<font color=red><b>FUEL PRICES:</b></font> Diesel prices continue recent downward trend, falling for fifth consecutive week

Diesel prices are continuing their recent downward trend, falling for the fifth consecutive week.

Terminal gate pricing data from the Australian Institute of Petroleum shows prices in all states apart from Darwin hovering around the 112.6 cents per litre mark throughout last week week.

Diesel in Melbourne was once again the cheapest in the country, averaging at a price of 111.4 cents per litre, closely followed by Brisbane which averaged 111.6 cents.

Sydney and Adelaide where not far behind, with prices of 111.7 and 112 cents per litre respectively.

As usual Darwin topped the list with an average diesel price of 116.3 cents per litre, 3.6 cents higher than Perth which finished as the second most expensive city at 112.7 cents a litre.

AIP data is based on information provided by BP Australia, Caltex, Shell Australia and ExxonMobil, averaged across terminals and capital cities.
