Diesel prices still dropping nationally

FUEL PRICES: Diesel prices continue to fall - down 0.6 cents per litre for sixthweek

Diesel prices continued their recent downward trend, falling for the sixth consecutive week ending September 27 2009.

Terminal gate pricing data from the Australian Institute of Petroleum shows prices in all states apart from Darwin hovering around the 111.3 cents per litre mark throughout the week.

Diesel in Melbourne as per usual was the cheapest in the country, averaging at a price of 110.8 cents per litre and was closely followed by Brisbane which averaged 111.1 cents.

Sydney and Adelaide where not far behind in the standings, with prices of 111.2 and 111.4 cents per litre respectively.

Darwin topped the list with an average diesel price of 115.7 cents per litre, 3.7 cents higher than Perth which finished as the second most expensive city at 112 cents a litre.

AIP data is based on information provided by BP Australia, Caltex, Shell Australia and ExxonMobil, averaged across terminals and capital cities.
