Douglas Arterial Duplication gets green light

Major construction on Douglas Arterial Duplication in North Queensland to begin early next year

Major construction on the Douglas Arterial Duplication in North Queensland is set to get under way early next year.

Infrastructure Minster Anthony Albanese today called for construction companies interested in building the project to submit their bids under the tender process by October 16.

The $110 million project is jointly funded by both the Queensland and federal governments and will look to increase the current two-lane Douglas Arterial section of the Townsville Ringroad to four lanes by 2012.

To date geotechnical investigations, drilling foundations on the road’s four bridges, preliminary planning and design activities have already taken place.
