Fatal truck crash sparks coroner report

Police in NSW to prepare report for the coroner after a truck driver was killed yesterday

Police in New South Wales will prepare a report for the coroner after a truck driver was killed when his prime mover crashed into a tree yesterday.

The accident occurred in the State’s west in Coonabarabran about 1.40pm on September 15, police say.

Police say the driver died at the scene and Mendooran Road was closed for hours while investigations were carried out.

“Inquiries into the cause of the crash continue, however it appears that the Mitsubishi Prime Mover with an unladen car carrier attached was being driven south when it left the roadway and crashed into a tree,” a statement from NSW Police says.

Witnesses have been urged to contact Coonabarabran police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The incident adds to a horror road toll for NSW this year, with the latest figures from the Roads and Traffic Authority showing 330 people have died as of September 15.

The figure is 67 more than the same time last year.
