Small businesses struggling with operational practices and tax obligations will benefit from a new web program available free from the Australian Tax Office (ATO).

The program builds a business profile from answers to a series of questions, before developing a printable evaluation report on how it can become ‘tax-ready’.

Evaluation can be conducted at every stage of a business, from the original concept through to selling or closing a business.

It can also assist tax practitioners, business advisers and bookkeepers to help clients identify where their business can make improvements.

Free to download farom the ATO website, the program targets areas where improvements could be made, and directs business owners on how to meet tax obligations.

‘Is your business tax ready?’ is available for small businesses, including sole traders, with turnovers of less than $2 million.
