The $40.9 million first stage of the Bunbury port access road in Western Australia is on track to be completed by the end of the year, according the State’s Transport Minster.

Simon O’Brien says the completion of the road is vital to the south-west region’s future development and will create economic growth and protect road users.

The project, which stretches from Picton and the port’s inner harbour, consists of 4.5km of single carriageway, four major intersections, two bridges and a traffic roundabout.

The road will divert 150 truck movements a day away from smaller roads.

Planning for next stage of the project, which will connect the Port Access Road to the future Bunbury Outer Ring Road, is on its way to completion, O’Brien says.
