The first of three projects to upgrade the Ipswich Motorway south of Brisbane has been completed.

The $255 million federally funded interchange linking the Ipswich and Logan motorways was officially commissioned yesterday by Queensland Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace.

All right side merges were replaced with free-flowing left side merges which Wallace says will improve safety.

The upgrade also included 12 new bridges, new service roads and improved local access for the local communities.

“This vital infrastructure project provides major improvements in safety, reliability and traffic flow for Ipswich Motorway motorists, as well as improved local access for the Gailes and Goodna communities,” Wallace says.

“The completion of this project is a key milestone in the upgrading of the Ipswich Motorway.”
