Four killed in B-double smash

Horror smash between car and B-double kills four and leaves truck driver in shock

November 16, 2009

Four men were killed in NSW yesterday after a car collided head-on with a B-double on the Hume Highway.

Southbound lanes on the highway were closed and diversions were put in place as police tried to clear the scene of the incident which happened about 20 kilometres north of Yass.

Witnesses told investigators the car carrying the men veered onto the wrong side of the road and hit the oncoming truck.

All four occupants died at the scene and the truck driver was taken to hospital suffering shock and minor injuries.

Police established a crime scene and began investigations into the incident.

“A crime scene has been established and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” a statement says.

“Anyone with information about the circumstances surrounding the incident is asked to contact Yass Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

The NSW road toll is currently 412 – 93 more deaths than this time last year.
