Police appeal for witnesses after semi-trailer driver manages to steal shipping container from local street

November 3, 2009

Police in the South Australian region of Elizabeth are appealing for witnesses after a driver of a semi-trailer managed to steal a shipping container from a local street.

Investigations are continuing into the incident which occurred in Palina Court, Smithfield last weekend.

Police have so far determined how the 7 metre brown container containing conveyor equipment, servo gear boxes and aluminium roof tile moulds was stolen.

“A semi-trailer would have parked alongside the container which was then lifted onto the tray of the semi-trailer,” a police media statement says.

“It would have appeared nothing out of the normal to passers-by, but police ask if anyone was walking or driving pass Palina Court and can recall a container being loaded onto a truck, they are asked to call BankSA Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
