A truck driver who rolled his vehicle yesterday afternoon on Queensland’s Bruce Highway remains in a serious condition, as police search for clues to the accident.

Police were called to the scene of the incident south of Sarina in northern Queensland about 3.45am yesterday.

“The 27-year-old male driver suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted to the Mackay Base Hospital where he remains in a serious condition,” a police statement says.

“The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.”

Police had to close the Bruce Highway for more than six hours to remove the vehicle.

The rollover happened less than 14 hours after a similar incident west of Brisbane when a 65-year-old man tipped the trailer of his prime mover.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for head and chest injuries, with the accident forcing the closure of the Warrego Highway.
