Diesel prices down for third successive week

Average diesel prices continue to fall, ending the week 1.2 cents per litre lower

Diesel prices fell by an average of 1.2 cents per litre for the week ending February 5, the third drop in as many weeks

Terminal gate pricing data from the Australian Institute of Petroleum shows prices in all states apart from Darwin hovering around 113 to 114 cents per litre throughout the week.

Diesel in Melbourne was the cheapest in the country, averaging 112.9 cents per litre.

It was closely followed by Brisbane and Sydney, which both averaged 113.1 and 113.3 cents per litre respectively.

Adelaide averaged 113.4 cents per litre, while Darwin was the most expensive with 11.7 cents a litre.

The price was 3.7 cents higher than Perth, which finished as the second most expensive city for the week at 114 cents per litre.
