Qld's Bruce Highway shut down for more than eight hours after truck driver loses control of his rig

February 2, 2010

The Bruce Highway north of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast was shut down for more than eight hours after a truck driver jack-knifed his rig.

The incident involving the B-double happened 37 kilometres north of Gin Gin about 4pm yesterday.

Police say the driver lost control in a narrow cutting, blocking lanes in both directions and spilling the truck’s load.

“Fuel tanks on the prime mover were punctured and fuel was spilled across the road,” a police statement says.

“The highway was reopened in both directions about 12.30am.”

Police, who are still investigating the accident, say the driver suffered minor lacerations and bruising.
