Trucks roll over as rain belts Queensland

Wild weather hits Queensland, leading to truck rollovers and traffic delays

February 8, 2010

The wild weather battering regions of Queensland has caused a truck to roll over on the Warrego Highway, shutting down all but one lane towards Toowoomba west of Brisbane.

The accident occurred between about 6.30 this morning. The driver was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Emergency crews are currently at the scene after putting the vehicle on its wheels.

The weather has also been blamed for another truck crash on the Toowoomba range yesterday at 11.40am when the vehicle rolled down the western side of the range.

Nobody was injured during the inciden, but delays were experienced due to the closure of a single lane while emergency crews retrieved the truck.

The continued downpour has caused police to shut down roads west of Brisbane in the Tablelands region and north of Sunshine Coast at Bundaberg.

Warning have also been issued to motorists urging them to avoid flooded roads, creeks and watercourses until the rains ease off.
