March 31, 2010

Police will today begin a salvage operation to collect two trucks from a gully after they collided and crashed through a steel railing.

The accident happened in Newcastle north of Sydney yesterday about 5.35pm when a truck being loaded with furniture outside a home began rolling down the street.

The driver sitting inside the vehicle jumped from it before it hit a parked removalist truck.

Police say the vehicles fell 10 metres into the gully.

“Police with the assistance of heavy vehicle salvage personnel, will be conducting a salvage operation of the two vehicles this morning…,” a police statement reads.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
