Emergency crews forced to amputate truck driver's leg after serious crash near Brisbane
April 29, 2010
A truck driver has had his leg amputated and is in a critical condition in hospital after crashing his tip truck north west of Brisbane.
Police say the 30-year-old man was driving his rig near the summit of Mount Glorious at Mount Nebo about 9.20am yesterday when he failed to negotiate a bend and ran off the side of the road.
“The truck rolled, crushing the cabin and pinning the man’s leg between the truck and a tree,” a police statement says.
Emergency crews were forced to amputate his leg at the scene before airlifting him to hospital for surgery.
The Forensic Crash Unit is currently investigating the accident.
