Avoid Bruce Highway between Cairns and Townsville

Motorists urged to avoid section of Bruce Highway in North Queensland after fatal crash between car and truck

Motorists are being urged to avoid a section of the Bruce Highway in North Queensland after a fatal crash between a car and truck.

The highway at Tully—about 140km south of Cairns and 210km north of Townsville—is closed in both directions.

The crash occurred about 11:10am today, killing the 20-year-old female car passenger.

“The Bruce Highway and Butler Street will be closed intermittently throughout the next few hours,” a police statement reads.

“Police are urging motorists to avoid the area.”
