John Robertson appointed NSW transport minister

Former union boss takes over NSW transport portfolio following resignation of David Campbell

May 21, 2010

Former union boss John Robertson will take over the NSW transport portfolio following the resignation of David Campbell yesterday.

Campbell stood down as the Transport and Roads Minister for personal reasons, prompting NSW Premier Kristina Keneally to reshuffle her ministerial team and separate the portfolio.

Robertson, who was elected in 2008, is now the Minister for Transport.

Minister Assisting the Minister for Transport David Borger will now take over the roads portfolio.

Keneally says she accepted Campbell’s resignation last night.

“Mr Campbell has a long and distinguished career as a minister,” she says.

“I thank him for his tireless work and for fulfilling his ministerial duties with dedication.”

Campbell, who took over the roads portfolio after Michael Daley was promoted to Minister for Police and Finance last year, will continue as the MP for Keira.
