Truckie dies in fatal Lismore crash

Truck driver dies after rolling his vehicle on the Bruxner Highway near the NSW region of Lismore

A truck driver died last night near the NSW region of Lismore, closing the Bruxner Highway.

Police were called to the accident scene about 9.50pm to discover an overturned prime mover. The driver died at the scene.

Inquiries are continuing into the incident, but police believe the driver rolled the truck after failing to negotiate a bend on the highway 7km south of Lismore.

The crash forced the closure of the highway in both directions, with police unable to specify when the route will be reopened.

The truck’s fuel tanks were also ruptured during the crash.

Road diversions are in place. Traffic is being diverted via Springwood Road and Caniba Road. Diversions for heavy vehicles is via the Casino to Coraki Road and then down to Woodburn and onto the Pacific Highway,” a statement from police says.
