Investigations continue into truck crash

Police still looking into a crash that sent a truck plummeting 25 metres down a gully west of Sydney

Investigations are continuing into a crash west of Sydney yesterday that led to a truck falling down an embankment.

The incident happened in the lower Blue Mountains about 11:15am when the tipper truck carrying soil was travelling along Hawkesbury Road at Hawkesbury Heights.

Police say it failed to negotiate a right hairpin curve and crashed through a guard rail, sending it plummeting 25 metres down a gully.

The 38-year-old driver suffered minor injuries, but salvage work will continue today to remove the vehicle.

“That recovery effort is likely to result in the closure of Hawkesbury Road, between Hawkesbury Lookout and Hillcrest Avenue,” a police statement says.
