It’s time to build F6 extension: NRMA

NRMA urges NSW Government to build F6 extension to cut congestion for southern Sydney and Illawarra motorists

November 17, 2010

The NSW Government is being urged to build the F6 extension to improve travel times for southern Sydney and Illawarra motorists.

NRMA Deputy President Michael Tynan says road users are suffering through traffic jams stretching for kilometres between Heathcote and Waterfall due to a lack of investment in improving the network.

He says the NRMA wants the NSW and federal governments to commit to the F6 extension to ensure it is shovel-ready when funding becomes available.

“Investment in the F6 has not kept pace with the growth of southern Sydney and the Illawarra. Residents deserve a better thoroughfare to the city, reduced emissions and faster travel times,” Tynan says.

The NRMA has also flagged short-term solutions to alleviating traffic congestion such as changing the synchronisation of traffic lights and creating strategically placed temporary clearways.
